If the
cells removed from the tissues around the prostate prove
to be benign, then a course of prostate cancer treatment will be set upon
to reduce the prostrate gland swelling as much as can
be done, dependant on the patient’s age and physical
condition.
It is possible to live with BPH without surgery if it
is held in check as much as possible. If untreated BPH
can cause the urinary tract to become completely blocked,
and cause a series of infections to the kidneys as well
as the bladder.
If biopsy results show that cells removed from the
prostrate are malignant, then the diagnosis for the
unfortunate patient is cancer of the prostrate gland,
with all that it entails. This is why early referral
to a doctor when experiencing discomfort in urinating
is vital and can even be life saving.
